A motorcycle collided with a vehicle on eastbound State Route 46 just east of Geneseo Road near Templeton late Sunday night, leaving one person dead.
According to California Highway Patrol dispatch logs, the crash was reported at 9:31 p.m. as a vehicle that struck a guardrail. Logs show the problem was updated to a traffic collision with an ambulance en route. A reporting party stated a motorcycle rider struck the party’s vehicle from the rear, with the rider on the south side of the eastbound roadway.
Dispatch logs indicate the motorcycle rider was blocking the eastbound lane. Debris was also reported blocking the roadway, and the vehicle was facing the wrong way on the right shoulder.
Logs show an additional involved vehicle in the westbound lanes facing the wrong way.
San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office personnel arrived on scene and set up flares in the No. 2 eastbound lane, according to the logs.
CHP units were assigned starting at 9:34 p.m. and began arriving at the scene by 9:47 p.m. One unit closed down the No. 2 eastbound lane at 9:50 p.m.
Identities of those involved and the cause of the crash were not immediately available.
