A crash on eastbound Interstate 8 just west of Westside Road near El Centro left one person dead early in the morning.
According to California Highway Patrol dispatch logs, the incident was reported at 12:21 a.m. when a white pickup truck overturned on the right shoulder. The vehicle came to rest on its driver’s side with the driver pinned inside and unable to be removed. Authorities notified the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office, fire department and ambulance services. Fire personnel arrived on scene and advised of a fatality.
CHP units were assigned at 12:23 a.m. and arrived at the scene by 12:24 a.m. and 12:30 a.m.
