Late Tuesday night, a semi truck struck a pedestrian on eastbound Interstate 210 just west of the La Crescenta Avenue onramp in Altadena, leaving one person dead.
According to California Highway Patrol dispatch logs, the collision was reported at 10:03 p.m. when callers described a semi truck hitting a pedestrian, with the truck coming to a stop on the right shoulder.
Logs show a person was standing in the center divider or lanes just before the incident, described as a white female adult appearing to want to cross to the center divider.
CHP units arrived on scene starting at 10:06 p.m., with additional officers enroute to provide traffic control and shut down the Pennsylvania Avenue onramp to eastbound Interstate 210.
All lanes were stopped for investigation, and officers advised Caltrans of a hard closure, requesting an estimated time of arrival.
Glendale Police Department assisted with traffic diversion, sending vehicles down the wrong way on the Pennsylvania onramp.
Officers checked nearby vehicles on the right shoulder just west of Ocean View but determined they were disabled only and not involved in the collision.
Media arrived on scene by 10:40 p.m.
The identities of the pedestrian and driver were not immediately available, and the cause of the collision remained under investigation.
