A crash on southbound State Route 65 at West Lindmore Street left one person dead Thursday morning in Porterville.
According to California Highway Patrol dispatch logs, the incident was reported at 6:28 a.m. and involved a white Dodge pickup blocking the roadway along with an unknown third vehicle also blocking traffic. People were reported getting out of a vehicle at the scene.
CHP units were assigned starting at 6:31 a.m. and began arriving by 6:33 a.m. Officers requested tow trucks for the vehicles, including two for evidence, and later canceled some of the tow requests.
Traffic was diverted to a frontage road, and Caltrans was asked to close southbound State Route 65 at Hermosa. The southbound lanes were reported completely blocked.
Units cleared the scene starting at 8:25 a.m., and the roadway was clear by 8:26 a.m.
Identities of those involved and the cause of the crash were not immediately available.
