A pedestrian died after being struck by a semi-truck Friday morning at the intersection of Valley Blvd. and Cherry Ave. in Rancho Cucamonga, authorities said.
California Highway Patrol dispatch logs reported the collision at 8:04 a.m. near the One Stop Liquor Market. Logs indicated the male pedestrian was walking in the street when the semi-truck driver did not see him and ran him over, leaving the pedestrian stuck under the trailer tires and unresponsive. Authorities notified the Fontana Police Department, which responded, and the San Bernardino County Coroner’s office. Logs also noted a notification to child protective services.
The semi-truck was blocking lanes, and the driver declined to move the trailer.
CHP units were assigned starting at 8:07 a.m., with the first arriving at the scene by 8:18 a.m. Additional units arrived over the next half-hour, and several cleared the scene by 8:19 a.m.
Identities of those involved were not immediately available, and the cause remained under investigation.
