One person died Friday evening after being thrown from an off-road vehicle in a crash in the Slash X area near Stoddard Wells, outside Victorville.
According to California Highway Patrol dispatch logs, the incident involving a sandrail was reported at 6:19 p.m. The reporting party said he went looking for his friend and found him involved in the collision.
Logs show the person was thrown from the off-road vehicle.
CHP units were assigned at 6:21 p.m. and arrived at the scene by 6:42 p.m.
One unit canceled its response at 6:34 p.m. after determining the crash site was not accessible with its vehicle.
A coroner was requested from the Apple Valley Fire Station at 6:29 p.m., with units later inquiring about the estimated time of arrival.

Identities and the cause of the crash were not immediately available.
