A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday evening on Auburn Ravine Road in Auburn.
California Highway Patrol dispatch logs show the collision was reported at 8:21 p.m. as a vehicle-versus-pedestrian incident in which the pedestrian jumped in front of a vehicle. The incident was initially classified as a hit and run with injuries, then updated to a traffic collision with major injuries at 9:09 p.m. and to a fatality at 9:57 p.m. Logs indicate the injured person was transported by ambulance to Sutter Roseville Medical Center for head injuries.
CHP units were assigned at 8:23 p.m., arrived on scene at 8:29 p.m. and cleared the incident at 9:57 p.m.
The identity of the person who died was not immediately available, and the cause of the collision remained under investigation.
