A crash on southbound State Route 110 near West 4th Street in Central Los Angeles left one person dead Tuesday morning.
The California Highway Patrol dispatch logs reported the fatality at 10:33 a.m.
The Los Angeles Police Department arrived on scene and conducted a traffic break.
CHP requested Caltrans to start closures on southbound State Route 110 at 3rd Street.
CHP issued a SigAlert for lanes 2, 3 and 4, with lane 1 remaining open.
A CHP unit arrived at the scene at 10:50 a.m.
Caltrans arrived on scene.
CHP notified the Traffic Management Center of the SigAlert and informed media.
A reporting party called, upset that no one was directing traffic, causing more congestion.
CHP confirmed the SigAlert with Caltrans on scene.
CHP units cleared the scene between 11:02 a.m. and 12:34 p.m.
Identities of those involved and the cause of the crash were not immediately available.
