A vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian Monday morning on Challenge Boulevard in El Cajon, authorities said.
According to California Highway Patrol dispatch logs, the vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision was reported at 7:57 a.m. Logs noted that an elderly person was hit and had already been transported.
Authorities started a road closure at Challenge and Avocado boulevards at 8:05 a.m.
CHP units were assigned starting at 8 a.m., with the first arriving on scene at 8:09 a.m. Units cleared the scene by 8:44 a.m.
The identities of those involved and the cause of the collision were not immediately available.
