One Dead in Crash on Westbound SR-60 East of Grove Avenue in Rancho Cucamonga

A vehicle crash on state Route 60 westbound east of Grove Avenue in Rancho Cucamonga left one person dead early Wednesday.

According to California Highway Patrol dispatch logs, the crash was reported at 4:15 a.m. The vehicle collided with the center divider, crossed all lanes and went down into the right-side ditch. Logs noted the vehicle was overturned on its roof about 15 feet down an embankment and barely visible from the freeway, with unknown color and type. Authorities notified the coroner at 4:48 a.m.

The No. 4 lane was closed for about 30 minutes starting at 5:17 a.m.

A tow truck was requested at 4:23 a.m. for vehicle removal and later canceled. An evidence tow truck was requested at 4:49 a.m. and arrived within 20 minutes.

CHP units were assigned starting at 4:18 a.m. and arrived on scene between 4:25 a.m. and 4:59 a.m.

The identities of those involved and the cause of the crash were not immediately available.
