A head-on collision between two vehicles on Metz Road near King City left one person dead late afternoon.
California Highway Patrol dispatch logs reported the crash at 5:32 p.m., with a male driver injured and out of a vehicle on the ground. Logs noted a request for a coroner, with an estimated arrival time of 20 to 30 minutes. Firefighters arrived at the scene, where a pickup truck was still in flames.
The logs described a black Ford Fusion, possibly on fire, colliding with a gray Ram truck. Both vehicles were blocking the roadway.
Officers blocked off traffic in the area.
A sergeant requested a coroner vehicle and advised on an evidence tow truck.
Units arrived at the scene starting at 5:36 p.m., with some clearing by 5:53 p.m.
Identities of those involved and the cause of the crash were not immediately available.
