A vehicle collision involving a car and a golf cart left one person dead Wednesday afternoon in Indio.
According to California Highway Patrol dispatch logs, the crash was reported at 4:38 p.m. at 22nd Avenue and Marshall Road. Logs show a blue Toyota collided with a golf cart, with the car catching fire and becoming fully engulfed. Fire personnel pronounced one person dead at 4:53 p.m. and the coroner was notified.
Riverside County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the vehicle fire.

CHP units were assigned starting at 4:42 p.m., with some arriving on scene by 4:53 p.m.
Identities of those involved and the cause of the crash were not immediately available.
