One Dead in Hit-and-Run Crash Involving Semi on NB SR-43 in Hanford Area

A hit-and-run crash involving a pickup truck and a semi-truck on northbound State Route 43 at Oregon Avenue in Hanford left one person dead Friday morning.

According to California Highway Patrol dispatch logs, the crash was reported at 9:04 a.m. and involved a white pickup truck and a big rig blocking the roadway. Emergency medical services were notified.

CHP units were assigned at 9:07 a.m. and arrived at the scene between 9:21 a.m. and 9:38 a.m.

A tow truck was requested for a Chevrolet 3500 pickup truck with a gooseneck trailer carrying an 8,500-pound John Deere tractor pulling a commercial-grade sprayer. The pickup was embedded in the side dump trailer of the semi-truck.

By 9:21 a.m., there was no traffic hazard and all vehicles had been moved to the right-hand shoulder.

Identities of those involved and the cause of the crash were not immediately available.
