One Dead in Motorcycle Crash on Eastbound I-205 in Tracy Area

A crash involving a motorcycle and a sedan on eastbound Interstate 205 just west of Mountain House Parkway near Tracy left one person dead Tuesday afternoon.

According to California Highway Patrol dispatch logs, the collision was reported at 3:16 p.m. when callers described a motorcycle rider down on the right shoulder with debris across the lanes. Logs noted the motorcycle had been speeding recklessly prior to the crash. Emergency medical services were requested, and arriving units reported CPR in progress on the rider, who was blocking lanes one and two. The incident was initially classified as a collision with an ambulance en route, updated to major injury at 4:54 p.m., and changed to a fatality at 6:06 p.m.

CHP units arrived on scene starting at 3:34 p.m., with additional support by 3:41 p.m. A tow truck was requested for the motorcycle at 3:58 p.m. The roadway was reopened by 4:38 p.m., though the tow truck reported delays due to heavy traffic and requested use of the right shoulder.

Units cleared the scene by 5:07 p.m.

The identities of those involved and the cause of the crash were not immediately available.
