One Dead in Rollover Crash on I-5 North in Redding Area

A rollover crash involving two vehicles on Interstate 5 northbound just south of Bonnyview in the Redding area left one person dead late Saturday night.

The California Highway Patrol dispatch logs reported the incident at 9:27 p.m., with callers describing an overturned vehicle with a single occupant and a dog, and a second vehicle off the roadway with an unconscious person. Authorities notified the coroner at 9:53 p.m.

Responding units arrived at the scene starting at 9:33 p.m., with additional officers en route to manage traffic. Both vehicles were designated for evidence towing, and a towing company was dispatched to assess and handle the removal.

Lanes 2 and 3 were closed, with traffic diverted to lane 1, and all lanes were temporarily blocked as a traffic break was initiated from Riverside at 9:42 p.m.

Identities of those involved and the cause of the crash were not immediately available.
