A crash involving a semi-truck on Interstate 215 north near Nuevo Road in the Riverside area left one person dead early Tuesday morning.
According to California Highway Patrol dispatch logs, the fatality was reported at 7:57 a.m. The logs show authorities notified the Riverside Sheriff’s Office coroner at 9:08 a.m. and requested a heavy-duty tow truck for a loaded flatbed trailer.
The logs indicate a unit requested a tow truck for a lockout at 8:36 a.m. and later canceled the heavy-duty tow request at 8:57 a.m. after another tow service arrived.
Authorities notified the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection at 8:52 a.m.
A CHP unit was assigned at 8:43 a.m., arrived at the scene at 8:47 a.m. and cleared the scene at 9:10 a.m.
The vehicle was described as a green and black semi-truck pulling an aluminum step-deck trailer.
The identities of those involved and the cause of the crash were not immediately available.
