A motorcyclist died in a crash on Interstate 215 southbound near University Avenue in Riverside early Tuesday morning.
According to California Highway Patrol dispatch logs, the crash was reported at 1:24 a.m. when a vehicle struck a truck. Logs show a motorcycle down in the high-occupancy vehicle lane, with firefighters starting chest compressions on the rider. Authorities requested tow trucks for multiple vehicles, including a motorcycle, and notified the coroner.
All lanes were blocked, and officers stopped the off-ramp. Caltrans was requested for a hard closure of the freeway, with traffic diverted at University Avenue. A tow truck driver reported being stuck in traffic and asked to use the center divider to pass through.
Media arrived on scene. Officers checked further south for a semi-truck with rear-end collision damage.
Identities of those involved and the cause of the crash were not immediately available.
