A solo vehicle crash on eastbound State Route 198 just east of Jameson Avenue near Coalinga left one person dead Saturday morning.
California Highway Patrol dispatch logs reported the crash at 6:51 a.m. The vehicle appeared to have lost control and crashed into a ditch on the right-hand side of the roadway. It was not blocking traffic.
CHP units were assigned starting at 6:54 a.m. and began arriving at the scene at 7:18 a.m. A tow truck was requested at 8:59 a.m. and notified to a rotation service.
Units cleared the scene by 10:34 a.m.
The identities of those involved and the cause of the crash were not immediately available.
