A driver died Monday morning after a gray SUV crashed into a tree on southbound State Route 29 near mile marker 24.10 in the Clear Lake area.
According to California Highway Patrol dispatch logs, the single-vehicle collision was reported at 9:37 a.m. Authorities notified the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, Caltrans and Napa County Sheriff’s Office. A coroner was notified at 10 a.m.
A tow truck was requested at 10:34 a.m. for the SUV, which had a broken-out flat left tire and major front-end damage. Information was provided to AT&T about a downed pole with no lines attached, identified as pole number FTA327125.
Units arrived on scene between 9:54 a.m. and 9:59 a.m. and cleared by noon. Identities and the cause of the crash were not immediately available.
