One Dead in SUV Crash into Tree on Southbound Hwy 29 in Clear Lake Area

A person died Monday morning after a gray SUV crashed into a tree on southbound State Route 29 near mile marker 24.10 in the Clear Lake area.

According to California Highway Patrol dispatch logs, the crash was reported at 9:37 a.m. Authorities notified the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, which arrived on scene. Cal Fire and Caltrans were also notified. A tow truck was requested for the SUV, which had a flat left tire and major front end damage. A utility pole was down but had no lines attached, and AT&T was notified.

No traffic blockage was reported. CHP units arrived at the scene starting at 9:54 a.m. and cleared the area by noon.
