One dead in SUV crash on southbound Highway 29 in Clear Lake Area

A driver died Monday morning after a gray SUV crashed into a tree on southbound State Route 29 near mile marker 24.10 in the Clear Lake area of Lake County.

The California Highway Patrol dispatch logs reported the crash at 9:37 a.m. Authorities notified the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, which arrived on scene. The logs indicated no roadway blockage and noted notifications to Cal Fire, Caltrans and Napa County Sheriff’s Office. A tow truck was requested for the vehicle, which had a broken-out left front tire and major front-end damage.

CHP units were assigned starting at 9:44 a.m., with the first arriving on scene at 9:54 a.m. Additional units arrived by 9:56 a.m. and 9:59 a.m. A rotation tow truck request was made to Young’s towing service at 10:37 a.m. Units began clearing the scene at 11:46 a.m., with others clearing at noon.

Authorities provided information to AT&T about a downed pole with no lines affected, and AT&T was notified at 12:09 p.m.

The identity of the deceased was not immediately available, and the cause of the crash was not reported in the logs.
