A traffic collision early Saturday morning on State Route 46 just east of Kurt Road in the Buttonwillow area left one person dead.
California Highway Patrol dispatch logs reported the collision at 2:30 a.m., initially as a traffic collision with unknown injuries before updating it to a traffic collision with an ambulance en route.
Logs show two vehicles were involved after one became a traffic hazard in the roadway and was struck.
An OnStar alert indicated the occupant had unknown injuries.
A vehicle was blocking the westbound lane.
CHP units were assigned at 2:35 a.m. and arrived on scene at 2:49 a.m.
Identities of those involved and the cause of the collision were not immediately available.
