A collision between two vehicles on southbound Interstate 805 near the Sweetwater Road overpass in San Diego left one person dead Wednesday afternoon.
According to California Highway Patrol dispatch logs, the crash was reported at 1:25 p.m. when callers described a black small vehicle blocking two right lanes, with the vehicle smoking, abandoned and airbags deployed. The incident was updated to a traffic collision with ambulance en route, and the coroner was notified at 1:29 p.m.
Fire crews reported blocking lanes 4 and 5, with a vehicle obstructing traffic. A tow truck was requested at 1:42 p.m. to remove a black GMC Yukon and a black Toyota, both not drivable.
CHP units arrived on scene at 1:42 p.m. and cleared the roadway by 2:19 p.m., with tow trucks removing the vehicles for storage forms.

Identities of those involved and the cause of the crash were not immediately available.
