One Killed in High-Speed Crash Into Tree in Chico Area

A solo vehicle crash into a tree left one person dead early in the morning in Chico.

According to California Highway Patrol dispatch logs, the crash was reported at 2:19 a.m. at Midway and Marybill Ranch Road. Logs indicate the vehicle was traveling at high speeds before the collision. Authorities notified Butte County Fire Department, and a fire captain confirmed the death at 2:28 a.m.

CHP units were assigned at 2:21 a.m., en route at the same time and arrived on scene at 2:26 a.m.

The identity of the deceased and the cause of the crash were not immediately available.
