One Killed in Motorcycle-Truck Crash on Westbound SR-78 in El Cajon Area

A collision between a motorcycle and a white truck on westbound State Route 78 just east of San Felipe Road left one person dead morning near El Cajon.

According to California Highway Patrol dispatch logs, the incident was reported at 10:16 a.m. with an open phone line and no verbal response. Logs noted a motorcycle versus white truck, with the motorcycle creating a traffic hazard in westbound lanes. No ambulance requests or CPR efforts were detailed in the logs, and no coroner notification was mentioned.

One CHP unit was assigned at 10:19 a.m. and arrived at the scene by 10:46 a.m. Another unit was assigned at 10:39 a.m. and enroute, while a third was assigned at 10:41 a.m., enroute and arrived by 11:00 a.m. before being cleared. A CHP officer advised holding off on a tow truck to assess the situation.

Caltrans was notified at 10:52 a.m. with one unit reporting on scene and requesting another to set up one-way traffic control. Additional Caltrans notifications occurred at 10:55 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

Identities of those involved and the cause of the crash were not immediately available.
