A traffic crash on southbound Interstate 805 near Bonita Road in the San Diego area left one person dead Wednesday afternoon.
California Highway Patrol dispatch logs reported the collision at 1:25 p.m., involving a black GMC Yukon and a black Toyota, with the vehicles blocking the slow lane, one smoking and airbags deployed. Logs show an ambulance was requested, and the medical examiner’s office was notified.
Fire crews blocked the No. 4 and 5 lanes, with a tow truck requested for both vehicles.
CHP units arrived at the scene by 1:42 p.m. and cleared the roadway by 2:19 p.m.
The roadway was cleared, and traffic message signs were activated and later deactivated.
Identities of those involved and the cause of the crash were not immediately available.
