Vehicle Kills Pedestrian in El Cajon Area Collision

An elderly person died after being struck by a vehicle Monday morning in the El Cajon area.

The crash happened at 7:57 a.m. at 4012 Corte Tierra Alta, according to California Highway Patrol dispatch logs, which described the incident as a vehicle versus pedestrian collision. Logs noted the elderly person had already been transported from the scene.

Dispatch logs showed a tow truck request for evidence and a later cancellation of a tow request. The vehicle involved was no longer at the scene and had driven away to a residence.

Logs also included notifications about a road closure starting at Challenge and Avocado boulevards.

CHP units were assigned starting at 8 a.m., with some arriving at the scene by 8:09 a.m. and others clearing by 8:43 a.m. Additional units were assigned and arrived later in the morning.

Identities of those involved and the cause of the crash were not immediately available.
